REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001: The threat of a major terrorist attack against America had been and is still a source of constant discussion and was widely anticipated by federal and local government officials back then and even now. Although the general concern was there, America, because of its superpower status, never believed that we would be attacked, especially in the vicious manner in which we were assaulted on September 11, 2001. Furthermore, this day of horror will forever be etched in the minds of millions, because it literally struck the heart and soul of American people everywhere.
Millions of us watched in sheer horror and disbelief as our nation and the lives of the innocent fell victim to one of the worst and heinous terrorist attacks in our existence as a nation. Before we could digest and even recover from one attack, we were pummeled with a series of others, in other locations which kept us reeling and our heads spinning.
The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, symbols of America’s financial strength and stability, were leveled to the ground when two commercial airliners, commandeered by terrorists, barreled right into them, causing a fiery inferno that literally caused both the 110 story towers to collapse within minutes.
Shortly thereafter, the United States Pentagon, the symbol of America’s military might and power, was also badly damaged as a third commercial airliner, also commandeered by terrorists plunged straight into it. On the other side of the world, terrorists aboard a fourth hijacked commercial airliner were thwarted by the passengers, and fell short of their desired target as the plane crashed into a rural area outside of Pittsburgh, killing all aboard.
In response to this national tragedy and great loss of life, many people are asking several important questions, ‘Where was God, and why didn’t He intervene to prevent these tragedies?’ “Are we facing or nearing the end of the world as we know it?’ This one thing is for certain, and that is that the Sovereign, Omnipotent God allowed the hedge of protection, which He had placed round about this country to come crashing down, and undoubtedly because of this nation’s gross spiritual decline and rejection of Him, and again we see that this is true and is without question more prevalent today.
Regrettably, this nation continues to move down a slippery slope and appears to be hell bent on moving toward even graver and worldwide destruction by attempting to remove God, and by embracing and adopting a spirit of tolerance of what the Lord Himself has deemed as ungodly and sinful. As a result, the fate for a heathen America and ungodly nations, has been revealed to us by Jesus in the Book of Revelation, and the picture, just like September 11, 2001 will be much more grim without repentance.
