One morning, we went to International House of Pancakes Restaurant or IHOP in Waldorf, MD for breakfast. This associated content article is my review of IHOP Restaurant in Waldorf, MD. Prices are inexpensive and we have been to IHOP many times and have enjoyed the dining experience. This time we choose the IHOP in Waldorf, MD. Although the inside was crowded, we found a spot close to the restaurant in their own parking lot.
Inside there were a few other groups ahead of us. There was a few minutes wait in the waiting room before we were seated in the mostly booths dining area. The table was set with menus and paper napkin wrapped utensils. There was another wait before a waitress came to serve us; we gave our drink and food order at the same time.
IHOP Restaurant Review: Ordering
The menu is posted online so customers may be able to pick out their order ahead of time. I was in the mood for a light breakfast of oatmeal but didn’t see it on the menu online or in the restaurant. I picked out a fruit bowl and tomato juice. The other members of our party had eggs, pancakes and coffee or tea. One member of our party asked for his eggs over easy. A request to replace a dirty utensil was also made at this time and the friendly waitress quickly and happily brought a new one.
IHOP Restaurant Review: The Food
The drinks arrived shortly after the order was placed. The tomato juice came in glass, the coffee came in a larger coffee thermos and small cup to pour it into. The tea came in a styrofoam cup with a small cup to pour it into. Perhaps the crowded restaurant was out of teapots? The member of our party who ordered the tea drank it out of the styrofoam cup. She was afraid it would spill as the styrofoam cup didn’t have a pour spout.
Food came shortly after the drinks. The eggs over easy were a little over cooked for over easy. The fruit bowl came with cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and grapes. The menu picture showed watermelon included in the fruit bowl but the description said seasonal fruit so variation was expected. The food was good.
IHOP Restaurant Review: The Bathroom
After breakfast, I went to wash my hands in the bathroom. It was well stocked with soap and a covered toilet paper dispenser. Additional rolls were sitting loose on top of the dispenser where they could fall on the dirty floor. The bathroom’s seat cover container was empty.
While the two stalls were a little roomier than the typical public bathroom, the room was small with one sink that had a wet surface. The paper towel dispenser was right next to the sink and it’s trash container was right below it. It was overflowing with paper towels which could reach the part where clean towels were and there were many towels on floor. Another member of our party went to use the bathroom and staff was in the process of cleaning the mess. She noticed there was no hook to hang a purse.
IHOP Restaurant Review: Cons
The staff was busy in the crowded restaurant so service was slightly slow. A utensil was dirty. The eggs were a little over cooked for over easy. The bathroom was dirty and had no hook for a purse.
IHOP Restaurant Review: Pros
The bathrooms was stocked with paper and soap and the stalls were roomy. The bathroom was being attended to. The food was good. There is a selection of vegetarian options. The staff was friendly and quickly replaced a dirty utensil.
International House of Pancakes Restaurant in Waldorf, MD is a popular place to go for breakfast. I would like to see oatmeal added to their menu. As food is good and prices are inexpensive, the members of my party would go to IHOP again.
