There are many new retro gaming systems on the market. Some of the systems work fine but some do not work well at all. Some of the systems play only one kind of games but some play as many as three different kinds of games. Most of the consoles are made in China but some have the poor quality you expect from China made products while others have a superior build quality. You may want to learn how all the system compares before you buy one. The Generation NEX Videogame Console is one of these systems. If you want to know if the Generation NEX Videogame Console is for you then you should continue to read on.
The Generation NEX Videogame is the only retro gaming system that I know of that you can get in the US that will play Famicom games. The system plays both Famicom and NES games. Some Famcicom games can be played on NES systems but most will not so this could be your first chance to play some Famicom games. Of course you will have to get the Famicom games.
Another interesting feature is that the Generation NEX will play with NES of Famicom controllers. To me the ability to use NES controllers is great. Many retro gaming systems do not allow you to use NES controllers which means you can not use any of the old peripherals. So you Power Glove fans can be happy because the Generation NEX will let you fill the power.
The design is one of the best of the retro gaming systems looking like an original NES. The console is also small and compact. The controller that comes with it is a cheap Famicom style one. Being a Famicom gives you extra buttons but no rarely used microphone. The controllers they include are low quality and cheap. It seems all the systems have cheap controller but you can replace with original NES controllers.
Like many the Generation NEX has its problems. It is not a total piece of junk. However it seems that every other machine is bad. So if you are lucky you will get a good machine. If you are not lucky you will get a bad one flip a coin and that is about how likely you are to get a good machine. Even the good machines have some trouble emulating properly but not enough to be a major issue. Although the good systems still seem to have problems emulating the Famicom well but considering this is your only Famicom choice besides the original or importing a retro system from Japan or Asia it is decent.
Overall I think the only two reasons to buy this system over other retro systems is that it lets you play Famicom games and it lets you use NES peripherals. If you do not plan to use peripherals or decide to buy another better NES only system though that will mean this only has the Famicom as an advantage. As most people do not have Famicom games and they are harder to find it may not be a large selling point. I would warn any buyer though that half the time the machine does not work.
