I recently decided to try out Clinique’s 3-Step system and see what the buzz was all about. Here is a review of the first step (cleansing). It is 6.7 oz for $15.
Packaging: This product comes in a green bottle with a pump at the top. They give you a fair amount too, so even though it is a department store product, I don’t feel “cheated” out of my money, even though it is a cleanser. It is a fair amount for the price. I absolutely love the pump! You have to turn it to the side in order to get the product out, so you won’t ever “accidentally” press the pump, wasting a lot of product.
Application: Instructions are fairly straight forward and easy to follow. You simply put a small amount on your hands, rub them together with some warm water in order to get a later, then rub on face. It says then to pat dry, but I usually rinse the cleanser off because it is very soapy.
Smell: There is a very light smell to this. It doesn’t bother me at all, but it is definitely not a fragrance. It shouldn’t really bother anyone, but if you are really sensitive to this, then maybe you should look into it before you purchase it.
Functionality: This definitely cleans your skin! After a long day, sometimes my face feels a little oily or just slightly sticky, especially because I bike. But after using this product, my skin feels very nice and smooth. I have the oily formula, so that may be why. Make sure to choose the appropriate soap for your skin type (extra mild, mild, or oily). I am not completely sure that it protects your skin’s natural oils though. My face just feels smooth, but by no means dry. So it definitely works. Actually, this product is my favorite out of all three steps, and it is also the cheapest, so this is definitely a great value, and I would highly recommend it!
