This cream eyeshadow comes in a small black container with two semicircle sections of cream eyeshadow. First off, I would advise readers to take the reviews on the ELF website with a grain of salt. Cream eyeshadows are mainly meant as a base. I think that they can be applied as regular eyeshadow, but definitely not most of the time. Cream eyeshadow is really supposed to be used under powder eyeshadow. That being said, I will note that it does crease without a powder over it, as the reviews state, but that is not the way you are supposed to use it!
For a dollar, they give you a very nice size. The color (I got Berry Mix) was not exactly close to the website’s color, but it was pretty good. I was not disappointed. The darker color turns out to be a redder purple, but it is very lovely. Texture wise, I wish they were a little easier to pick up from the container, maybe a little creamier. Then it would be a little better to blend with. However, it really is a very good product with that slight annoyance.
As a base, I really love this product. The Berry Mix comes with a light pink (a little pinker than in the picture), and it is really nice as a light reflective base. The formula has a sort of pearly sheen, and it is very nice under eyeshadows in my opinion. It gives your skin a nice base to work with so that eyeshadows will show up better.
However, the main problem with this is that it is more difficult to apply. As I said, it doesn’t pick up very easily, and I don’t want to use my fingers because it seems a rather clumsy way to do it. Of course, it isn’t one of ELF’s best products, but it is definitely worth trying out!
