I got this lipstick recently as part of a gift with purchase from Everyday Minerals. I had been curious about them for a while, and I was glad to have the chance to try it out. The color looks lovely on the website, and I was really anticipating it. It looks like a coppery color with a pearly sheen on the picture, and it is pretty true to the actual color. I would say that the lipstick is more shimmery in real life, but I don’t mind at all.
I absolutely love the color on me. My skin is fairly light with golden and neutral undertones, and the golden shimmer and copper tone of the lipstick looks fantastic on me, but I think that the color would be very flattering of other people. I would probably not recommend it to people with ivory skin, or very tanned skin, but for medium skin, it looks great. The color itself is very buildable. It can be worn over another as a shimmery coat, or it can be worn by itself. It is not super pigmented, so you might have to press down a little harder or apply another layer in order to get the actual color.
The lipstick does not go on as smooth as other lipsticks I have used, but that may be due to the fact it is a mineral lipstick. It smells a little strange as well. I don’t think it smells bad, but it doesn’t smell very good. It does smell natural though, maybe a little like sunflower seeds.
As much as I like the lipstick color, I am a little annoyed at the packaging. It comes in a container that looks like a round, plastic lipstick container, but feels kind of cheap, and since the lipstick extends past the twist-up container, the lipstick is nicked very easily, so you have to be extremely careful with it.
Though I love the color, the lipstick could be smoother and the packaging could be a little more sophisticated. I’m not sure that I would buy this lipstick separately because there are lipsticks that seem better to me at the drugstore.
However, the one great thing about this lipstick is the ingredients. Mineral makeup is growing as a trend in cosmetics, and this lipstick contains natural ingredients such as seed oil. It contains no parabens or artificial fragrances (which is probably the cause of its scent). I love that this lipstick is “green,” even though its packaging really bothers me. I think I can deal with the packaging for all its other benefits.
