Out of Everyday Minerals’s five foundation finishes, matte is supposedly the one with the most coverage. Everyday Minerals advertised completely matte coverage, so I decided I would try it out. I have normal skin, and don’t really get too oily.
First off, I would like to remark that my first impression of the matte finish was that it was not sparkly, unlike the other finishes of Everyday Minerals. Minerals are often very glittery or sparkly because of the mica content. This is often a problem for those who want to avoid looking shiny, especially people often layer minerals to adjust the amount of coverage, depending on the needs of their skins. The matte finish is very buildable because it won’t make you look shiny.
Besides that aspect, I don’t really see much difference in the coverage offered by this foundation and the semi-matte. You definitely won’t get full coverage with just one layer, and you will definitely have to put on several layers. If you do your makeup in a rush, this may not work for you.
One problem that you could encounter with this finish is looking too flat. Because there is no sparkle in the foundation, it is possible that with multiple layers, you could end up hiding your skin’s natural glow. So I would be a little bit careful with this foundation.
However, overall, I was very happy that the foundation was completely matte. When they say matte, they really mean it. If I put on extra layers, I won’t end up looking sparkly, because the sparkle is sometimes very apparent, and it’s never good to have your face look sparkly when you want to go outside and have people take you seriously.
Overall, a good finish, but you definitely need to consider what your skin is like, and what your needs are.
