I discovered Everyday Minerals fairly recently, and was initially attracted by the fact that they gave free sample kits (you only pay shipping) for their foundations. When I first discovered Everyday Minerals, they still offered blush as free samples. They no longer do so, which is too bad, as it was a great way to try out colors before buying full sizes.
The sample kit contains five foundations of four different finishes. They offer two semi-matte finishes. It is many people’s favorite formula. It seems to be a very safe medium-ground in the finishes. Don’t be afraid of the name “semi-matte.” The semi-matte does offer suitable coverage, in my opinion. I would recommend adding more than just one layer, but the name does not mean it has less coverage. Rather, it means that the mineral foundation itself has some shimmer in the powder.
This adds a bit of a glow to the complexion, also known as a “dewy” look. The matte look provides a flatter look to your skin, and it looks slightly unnatural if you put on too much. The semi-matte seems even more buildable to me in terms of coverage. However, I would be careful about adding too much and making your face look too shiny.
The foundation itself feels extremely nice on the face. Everyday Minerals claims that this foundation provides a satiny finish, and I would definitely agree. My face feels moisturized even when I do not apply moisturizer. It feels very smooth and even a little creamy. It gives the face a wonderful glow, and the autumn and winter complexion really needs that extra glow in order to warm up your skin tone.
I love how light this foundation feels on the skin. It doesn’t feel heavy or overpowering like non-mineral, liquid foundation. Its coverage can be adjusted based on your personal preferences. It is really wonderful that it is mineral foundation as well. It will help with those who have very sensitive skin.
Overall, this is a great foundation. It may not provide enough coverage for those with a need for heavier coverage, but it does great for daily use and light coverage.
