Review of Maybelline’s Dream Mousse concealer and Dream Mousse blush.
While I don’t always wear a blush, I do like to add some color to my cheeks when I am dressing up for a date with my husband or going out for some other function. As I have aged, I have found I like the sheer color a cream blush provides. I was shopping for the Dream Mousse Foundation to write a review on and decided to try the concealer and blush as well.
I chose the blush in the peach satin shade. It comes in a glass jar that contains .20 oz. and with the tiny amount you need to use, it should last at least the recommended 6 months before most professionals tell you to toss your old makeup away. After I had applied the foundation, I put just a tiny bit on my fingertip and smoothed it onto the apple of my cheek. It went on very smoothly and I was able to use just that little amount to blend the color up along my cheekbone and into my hairline. The result was a sheer blush of color that goes well with my fair skin and red hair.
The color lasted long into my day and I didn’t need to reapply the blush. It stayed true to its color and did not turn orangey as some peach tinted blushes are prone to do.
My skin is very sensitive, along with being somewhat oily, but I had no breakouts after using the blush.
I bought the blush on sale at my local grocery store for $5.00, but it regularly is priced at around $8.00.
Overall, I give it an 8 out of 10.
The concealer is also packaged in a glass bottle but contains a tiny bit more with .106 oz. of the product provided. I chose the Ivory shade and it was a good match for me. I apply concealer after I apply foundation simply because I read somewhere that if you apply before, you are covering up your concealer with your foundation and undoing what it is supposed to do.
I again used only a small amount under my eyes to help cover the dark circles I inherited from my mom. It covered as well as any other concealer I have used and the texture is very light on the skin. It didn’t sit in those fine lines that seem to have appeared over night around my eyes and that’s a plus. It also stayed put for most of my day as did the blush. I also used a tiny bit to help hide the little red veins that have started to show up in some places. It did a fair job of covering those as well.
The price on the concealer was, again, on sale and $7.00. I like that a little bit went a long way and it did what it said it would. It concealed.
This entire makeup line, The Dream Mousse Line, feels very light on my skin, but has good staying power and I would recommend it for most people. Those of you with very oily skin may not like it because it all contains extra moisture which translates into shiny skin, quickly, for those with oily skin, but for the rest of us, it’s a good makeup at a good price.
