I have been to Spitfire Bar & Grill in Fargo, North Dakota several times, but I went again just the other night for dinner. We decided to go back because they have had good food in the past and because my husband loves their raspberry glaze. We had an enjoyable experience again, although I was a little disappointed with the main part of my meal.
First of all, the hostess seated us and the waitress came to take our order. She was very friendly and brought our drinks out quickly. And when we finished them, she was there with more before we could even ask for it! It took us a little while to decide on food, but we finally ordered onion rings for our appetizer – I also ordered a side Caesar salad – and put an order in for our entrees.
Spitfire Bar & Grill in Fargo, North Dakota: The Menu
Besides onion rings, Spitfire offers various starters, from BBQ nachos to pesto cheese bread. This is not to mention their flat breads, salads, and soups. There are various pastas with sauces that are made from scratch. There are sandwich platters, burger platters, steaks, wraps, and more entrees to choose from.
Because I love buffalo wings, I thought I’d give their Buffalo Chicken Wrap a shot – I forget the actual name and it’s not on their online menu. I’m kind of irritated about that; I would really like to know what kind of cheese they put on the wraps. Whatever it was, it was really strong and completely overpowered the buffalo taste (yes, it was that bad!). I think, if they had used a milder cheese, the wrap might have been pretty good. I couldn’t even finish half of it, though, and the rest is still sitting in my fridge.
Dan ordered the Boss Burger (which is also not on the online menu) with the raspberry glaze. His brother came along and ordered the Spitfire Bacon Cheeseburger, if I remember correctly. They both seemed to enjoy their meals. In fact, we were all completely stuffed when we left – I did eat my Caesar salad, a couple onion rings (which were nice and crisp), and all of my french fries.
Spitfire Bar & Grill in Fargo, North Dakota: The Prices
You can expect to pay from $9 to $17 for your entree, plus about $10 if you order an appetizer. Without the tip, all three meals cost about $45. This price also includes a side Caesar salad, onion rings, and two sodas. That’s not bad, considering we have spent the same amount when just Dan and I go out.
I would definitely eat at Spitfire again and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys a hearty meal now and then. The food is generally good, the service was friendly and helpful, and I didn’t leave hungry.
