Who doesn’t like a good buffet restaurant? I’ve been to many buffets in my day, and of them all, the Golden Corral in Fargo, North Dakota has the widest selection of food. You will find yourself going back many times to get a little bit of everything at the Golden Corral because you couldn’t possibly fit it all on one plate!
Let’s begin by walking in the door. You will need to grab a tray and pay for your meal in advance. Hey, at least it will save you from the embarrassment of downing five courses before realizing your forgot your wallet.
The restaurant was packed when I arrived, but we were able to find a table in the very back corner. You should know that the waiter will take your dirty dishes and bring new plates between trips to the buffet. The combination of these two facts proved to be a problem when we finished our first course and were ready to go back for more.
Everyone knows that, when you’re at a buffet, you’re supposed to eat as fast as you can so you don’t fill up too fast. Right? Well, I’m guessing their reasoning behind bringing your new plates personally is so your food will settle and you won’t be able to eat as much – thus, saving them money.
I say this because we had to wait about ten minutes between finishing courses and getting new plates. Once, I even received a dirty plate and had to wait again to get a new one. I’m pretty sure the waiter kept forgetting about us back in the corner.
As I said, the food selection is pretty good. I like to begin with a lettuce salad plate (I love salads!). Besides a salad bar, the Golden Corral offers a wide variety of foods; rice, steak, potatoes, tacos, ribs…and the list goes on. Once you have stuffed yourself to the brim, you can top it off with dessert.
But when I was there, the dessert area didn’t look all that appetizing; to give you a visual, the candy corn was wet and sticky from sitting in the humidity. Previously, I had also tried the rice, which proved to be a bit undercooked. Despite this, the food was good for the most part. If you visit their website, you will find a list of the everyday menu items.
Will I visit Fargo’s Golden Corral again? Definitely. I love buffets, especially when they have such a large variety of food choices.
