With two kids in the house (both of them under 7), we go through an awful lot of paper towels. To be fair, the towels aren’t just used to clean up after them. My wife and I have been known to make messes too. But, in any case, we constantly need to buy more.
Because of this, we usually look for bargain brands rather than the top names. And, for the most part, those brands have done a good enough job. However, we recently purchased another brand, Supreme Choice, which is proving to be a big waste of money.
We actually picked up this brand for a couple different reasons. The obvious one was price. But, we ended up doing our shopping at Shopko rather than our usual places (we were picking up diapers too and it was closest) and it was the only affordable brand we could find.
With most cheap brands, there is a slight drop off in terms of quality. Some, for example might not be as absorbent as the top brands and require two towels instead of one. However, with most, the drop off is not very noticeable and you still end up glad you saved money.
That is simply not the case with this brand.
First of all, they are a pain to get off the roll. The towels stick together and, while my wife and I can usually get the quantity we want, it does make it a bit difficult for our oldest daughter at times.
As far as absorbency goes, this brand strikes out every time. Today, for example, I was doing dishes. And, as is usually the case, some of the water splashed onto the counter. I used two towels rather than just one and, rather than absorbing the water, they pretty much just pushed it around. In total, it took me about five of these paper towels to finally get it all soaked up.
The same can be said about the durability of these towels, or the lack of it at least. I have purchased plenty of bargain brands that could hold up for several minutes before they started to fall apart. This brand started falling apart the second it got wet.
Needless to say, I was very unhappy with this purchase. I will continue to buy the cheaper brands of paper towels when I go out shopping but this is one brand that I will not buy again.
