October 3-9, 2010 is Fire Prevention Week and to celebrate the Royal Oak Fire Station and local fire fighters will host their annual Fire Fighters Open House on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring the family for fire safety demonstrations. Children are those most endanger from fire. Children often do not know how to protect themselves or practice fire safety. The Royal Oak Fire Fighters Open House is a great opportunity for children and adults to learn fire safety. Listed on the City of Royal Oak website, there will be ‘live Technical Rescue demonstration, Sparky the Fire Dog, Fire Prevention Smokehouse, Jaws of Life Demo, vehicle displays, CPR demonstration, Thermal Imaging Camera display, Live grease fire demonstration, Oakland County hazardous material truck’ all to help families stay safe from fire. There will be childrens’ activities, refreshments and lots of ‘question and answer’ with trained fire safety and rescue workers. Fall and winter are the most dangerous season for house fires. Make a point to get down to the fire station on October 16, 2010.
