It’s easy to talk the ‘green’ talk, but not always as easy to walk ‘green’. The Royal Oak Nature Society is here to help you learn how to ‘tread lightly’. The Royal Oak Nature Society is dedicated to the preservation of Cummingston Park and Tenhave Woods, two local natural resources vital to the community. The Royal Oak Nature Society is a non-profit organization that offers nature walks and educational events and classes. They are building an arboretum behind the Senior/ Community Center in Royal Oak also. What’s an arboretum? The word ‘arbor’ is French for ‘tree’. An arboretum is “a place where trees and shrubs are cultivated for exhibition” (WordWeb, Princeton). It takes a lot of man power and time to build and maintain an arboretum. It takes a lot of volunteer effort to host the many events available through the Royal Oak Nature Society. Interested in helping your local environment? Contact the Royal Oak Nature Society for volunteer opportunities and a schedule of upcoming programs. Follow them on Facebook here. It free; all it costs is a little of your time and concern. If you’d like to sponsor the Royal Oak Nature Society, it’s very inexpensive to do so.
