Every now and then it is fun to get out and break the rules. While you can get into a little bit of trouble, that’s a worry for the following morning or for later in the day. Its far more fun to get a little loose and crazy and worry about the consequences later. I’m sure everyone has a few rules they love to break so here are 5 rules I love to break.
The Speed Limit
Everyone speeds, at least on my commute they do. However, breaking the speed limit on the back roads is a lot more fun. I love to drive and getting out on some back roads and driving hard is a great way for me to enjoy myself. The first part of my commute to work features almost 30 mins of driving on back roads in the morning and it wakes me up faster than a cup of coffee ever will. I may get a ticket or hit the brakes to avoid an accident, but the fun makes it more than worthwhile.
These days, I’m accused of being a responsible adult more than I like. However, I do have a bed time which I try and keep to, simply because otherwise I feel like I’m useless the next day. I still love to stay up a little later with friends and beers though, particularly if there is a Washington Caps game on! Grabbing some booze and some food at my local bar with my friends during a caps game is the best way to break the bed time rule.
Drinking Before Lunch Time
As a home owner and accused responsible adult I have to spend a lot of my Saturdays doing things around the house that aren’t particularly fun but are necessary. I usually have a rule that says you shouldn’t drink before lunch time. However, find me an early football game on a Saturday or Sunday and I’ll snap this one in a heartbeat, all in the name of fun.
Since I got a real job after leaving college I’ve had to dress well every day during the week. These days when we go out I try and dress reasonably well in order not to embarrass my very lovely fiancée. I still love to break my well dressed rule at home though, particularly by going to the massively ripped and torn jeans that I think look great but other people don’t think so much of. I don’t usually get into too much trouble unless I try and leave the house with them…
Being a Responsible Adult
Let’s face it, responsibility sucks. Everyone has better things to do with their time than head to work and make money just so they can pay the rent. It’s fun to get back to being a little crazy and a little irresponsible every now and then. Sometimes you get in a little bit of trouble but you can usually escape with probation and community service. Its far more fun that way.
So those are my favorite 5 rules to break. They’re great choices for having a whole lot of fun without getting into too much trouble and it is very refreshing to forget about you’re responsibilities for a while and just cut loose.
