If I was a designer, I would be really upset right now. Celebrities are taking over the perfume industry. I don’t know how many perfume reviews I watched on YouTube, and almost everyone’s perfume collection was made up of at least 50% celebrity fragrances.
I know that this perfume from Shakira is going to be a best seller because she has so much support from the Hispanic community. They always stand behind her.
To me, this fragrance has a smell that may be out of season right now. It smells more like spring or summer to me. The first notes that hit me were florals like honeysuckle, gardenia, and jasmine. It smelled a little like Beautiful Embrace by Estee Lauder. There are also warm notes like vanilla or musk, which reminds me of Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan.
Although I like Beautiful Embrace and Cashmere Mist, I don’t think S by Shakira is my kind of fragrance. It smells good, but it just isn’t me. The top notes are too strong, and I’m usually not into really strong florals unless it’s rose or gardenia. And the base notes didn’t smell good with the top notes. I don’t like the fusion of white flowers and musk or amber. It just doesn’t work for me.
Overall, I give this fragrance 3 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it for warm weather instead of the fall or winter.
