Few families don’t have at least one night a week where it seems like dinner is simply one more thing to squeeze into an over packed schedule. For just such occasions, I always try to keep a few jars of tomato sauce and a variety of pasta in the cabinet to throw together a quick dinner. I was working on my weekly shopping list when I spotted Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread in a basket at the end of the pasta aisle. Normally priced at $1.99 for a very large loaf, the weekly specials included marking down this product for only one dollar and twenty five cents. Knowing the the next night would probably shape up to be one of those rushed evenings, I picked up a loaf of this bread to add to our dinner. This unbiased food review will tell you all you need to know about Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread.
This product is exceptionally easy to prepare and was ready in just a few minutes. After preheating the oven to the instructed three hundred and fifty degrees, I place the bread right in the bag on the middle oven rack. After about thirteen minutes, the Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread was ready to eat. The directions state that the bread takes between ten and fifteen minutes to heat through, but with my oven, ten minutes was too short of a time for the butter to melt completely in the middle. Fifteen minutes would have been too long, as after thirteen minutes, the bread was browned perfectly and the next step would have been to burn. I suggest opening the bag to give the bread a peek after about twelve or thirteen minutes. The instructions on the back of the bag also tell you how to prepare this garlic bread on the grill or under the broiler for an even crispier crust.
There are approximately ten servings in the Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread, which makes the low price even more of a bargain. One slice contains one hundred and sixty calories with sixty calories from Fat. There is seven Fat grams with two point five grams of Saturated Fat and zero grams of Trans Fat. Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread was certainly a treat. There was an ample amount of butter throughout the entire loaf as well as a delicious garlic taste. The entire length of the bread was also flavored with Parsley. Not only was this bread a delicious addition to my pasta and vegetables, I used the remaining slices the next morning to sandwich eggs and cheese for quick breakfast sandwiches for my family. Although the Fat and calorie content is such that I will not be indulging in this product often, I certainly look forward to serving it again at a future date. For price, ease in preparation, and of course taste, I rate Safeway Select Heat & Serve Garlic Bread a very strong five out of five stars.
