One of the best natural herbs I like to use when my skin is breaking out with sores, rashes, and fever blisters is Saint John’s Wort. Saint John’s Wort can help calm, cleanse, and soothe the skin while relieving pain, irritation and dryness from the skin. It can also help relieve the burning sensation caused from a burn and ease the sensation caused by itching and stinging from insect bites.
The reason Saint John’s Wort works for cleansing and soothing skin irritations is because it contains a compound in it called hyperforin which works as a natural germicide. Hyperforin is also good for relieving inflammation and pain in skin irritations and infections as well. It also helps calm the skin and bring down any redness and swelling as well.
The way you would use Saint John’s Wort to cleanse the skin is by boiling a pot of water on the stove. You will need about 6 cups of water and 1/2 a cup of Saint John’s Wort dried leaves. Saint John’s Wort dried leaves can be found at almost every herbal shop. Once you have the dried leaves you can place them into a large metal bowl and pour the boiling water over them. Then all you have to do is wait 10 to 15 minutes while the leaves turn the water a reddish amber color. Once that step is done you can than use the Saint John’s Wort tea to help relieve any skin irritation and infection you might have.
The way you would use the Saint John’s Wort to cleanse a skin irritation or infection is by taking a cotton cloth and pouring some of the Saint John’s Wort tea you made onto it. After you wipe down the area gently that needs cleansing and soothing. For painful skin irritations that cause sting, burning, or pain you can take the cloth with the tea on it and use it as a compress to help soothe the skin. If you are trying to cleanse a cut or scrape you can gently pour the Saint John’s Wort tea over the wound and help rinse it out from all the bacteria and dirt that might have gotten in it. When I use Saint John’s Wort tea to help soothe my sores, rashes and fever blisters I like to take a cotton ball and dip it into the tea and than use it as a soothing compress by and hold it up to the infected area to help soothe and cleanse the area. I usually do this about 3 to 4 times a day until the sore, rashes, or fever blister is gone away. You can do this as well to relieve pain, stinging, burning, or itching caused by an insect bite, burn, rash, sore, blister, and hives. I also can help soothe dry itchy eczema patches on the skin because it acts as a natural moisturizer and anti inflammatory.
However, there are some side effects with using Saint John’s Wort such as your skin coming very sensitive to the sun and possible allergic reactions. It is very important to discuss Saint John’s Wort with your doctor before using it to cleanse and soothe any skin irritations. If your doctor says it is okay to use go ahead and use it for cleansing and soothing your skin problems.
So next time you get a sore, rash, or fever blister as well as any other types of skin irritation or infection remember to use Saint John’s Wort instead of an over the counter antiseptic or tropical ointment. It is natural and works very well for all kinds of skin problems. I wish you all the very best of luck with taking care of your skin irritations and infections naturally with Saint John’s Wort.
