Sarah Silverman has a nude scene in upcoming movie ‘Take This Waltz’, but she’s using her special brand of gross-out humor to ensure that no one wants to watch it. So why would Sarah Silverman do a nude scene in ‘The Last Waltz’ if she doesn’t want anyone to see the movie?
Apparently Sarah Silverman just wanted to work with Sarah Polley, the director of ‘Take This Waltz’, so badly that she decided to bravely bare it all in the name of art. However, she’s doing her best to keep expectations for her nude scene low, comparing herself to Cream of Wheat and Kathy Bates in ‘About Schmidt’ rather than Julianne Moore in ‘Short Cuts’ (both two of the funniest nude scenes you’ll ever see, but one of the blandest hot cereals you’ll ever taste). So could someone like Sarah Silverman, who has no problem offending everyone and telling poo jokes onstage, possibly be nervous about a nude scene?
Well, there aren’t a whole lot of female stand-up comedians who have done it before, for one thing. In fact, the only female comedian I’ve come across is Chelsea Handler, who did an unintentionally funny nude scene in skinemax movie ‘The Plotters’ (and of course there’s that other infamous nude scene she shot in the name of getting gigs). Perhaps female comedians just make too many jokes about their bodies to ever seriously consider doing nude scenes (or maybe, beneath their brave stage personas, they’re just as self-conscious as most women). Whatever the case, full frontal nudity will definitely be a new frontier for Sarah Silverman.
In ‘Take This Waltz’, she’ll be playing Geraldine, the sister of Seth Rogen’s character Lou. Lou is a chef happily married to Margot (Michelle Williams), but she’s become a little bit bored with their settled life. So, naturally, she decides to spice things up by having a fling with an offbeat guy she meets on a flight. Unfortunately, when she gets home, she finds out that this guy lives right across the street from her. And then things get really complicated.
But back to the important part of the movie. Evidentially another gratuitous nude scene involves Michelle Williams getting naked with a group of women in a YMCA locker room. So even though Sarah Silverman might be doing everything within her power to keep you from watching this bittersweet romantic dramedy, I think it’s fairly safe to say that this is one waltz girls might not have any problem dragging their guys through.
