Sponsored by the city of Upland the Scary-A Faire is one giant Halloween themed street fair and is a safe and fun alternative to door to door trick or treating.For the event the city closes down the entire downtown area to car traffic and many local businesses and service organizations set up free game booths all along the tree lined center of downtown Upland.
What is The Scary-A-Faire?
The city of Upland’s Scary-A-Faire is a safe alternative to door to door trick or treating.Set up much like a typical street fair but instead of booths filled with local fruits, vegetables and crafts there are lots of free Halloween game booths ran by local businesses and service groups. There are also several food and drink vendors selling a wide variety of delicious food in case you get tired of snacking on candy.
When Will The Scary-A-Faire Be Held?
This year Upland’s answer to safe trick or treating will be held on Saturday, October 30th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where Is The Scary-A-Faire Located?
The Scary-A-Faire is located in Downtown Upland between 2nd Avenue and 9th Street. Free parking is available on surrounding streets and in the Metrolink parking lot.
How Much Does It Cost To Participate In the Upland Scary-A-Faire?
All games at the Scary-A-Faire are free. Food and drinks are available for a nominal charge.
What Types of Things Can Children and Their Families Do At The Scary-A-Faire?
There’s a wide variety of safe Halloween activities parents and children can do at Upland’s Scary-A-Faire. They can trick or treat the downtown Upland Merchants, play games for prizes, listen to live entertainment in the gazebo, enter the costume contest or bring a carved or decorated pumpkin to enter in the pumpkin contest.
How Do I Enter The Costume Contest?
To enter the costume contest look for the judging table near the Gazebo and fill out an information card to enter and hand to the judges who will then judge your costume. Awards will given in various categories: Prettiest, Scariest, Funniest and Most Creative. Costume judging will end at 7:10 pm and the. winners will be announced at approximately 7:30 pm. In previous years the first, second and third place winners have all received very nice ribbons.
How Do I Enter The Pumpkin Carving Contest?
To enter the pumpkin carving contest bring your carved or decorated pumpkin to the tables that are against the gazebo in the center of downtown Upland. Next fill out an information cars and put it with your pumpkin. Pumpkins will be judged prior to 7:10 and the winners will be announced at 7:30 when the costume contest winners are announced.
