Amazement Square school tours allow kids to see, touch and explore with lots of hands on learning opportunities. School tours compliment the Virginia SOL curriculum. From mummies to music, bodies to buildings, Amazement Square offers lots of science education.
If your class can’t come to Amazement Square, their highly trained staff will come to you with hands-on learning adventures for programs during or after school hours.
Amazement Square has four floors of exhibits with activities that appeal to a broad age group from preschool to middle school.
School tours are $120.00 for the first tour, $90.00 for any consecutive tours. This covers classes with up to 30 students. For Outreach Tours, add a .55-cent per mile charge.

School tours of one hour with museum staff assistance are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm. Please plan for an actively involved chaperone for every five children. From busy balls to buzzy bees, there’s plenty of science happening at the Virginia Discovery Museum.
There are currently four outreach programs available from Virginia Discovery Museum to help teachers meet Virginia SOL requirements.
For 2010 those outreach programs include Clay, Corn and Clouds, Passport to Nigeria, Buried History and Starlab. Contact the Outreach Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Most permanent exhibits at the Virginia Discovery Museum are appropriate for preschoolers through fourth grade with some of interest to older elementary age students. Often special exhibits are of greater interest to older elementary age student.
The cost is a reduced admission of $4.00 per person for groups of 6 to 40.

Please call the Virginia Discovery Museum and ask for the Gallery Manager. Please call with a desired date and time, as well as an alternative. Group leaders can view confirmed group reservations online and a confirmation package including directions and parking information will be mailed to you.
For Fall 2010 the a special exhibit is “It’s Easy being Green,” another excellent exhibit for science classes. “Illumination Station: lights, lenses and lasers” is another excellent science lesson opportunity.

Programs are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning, NAEYC Standards and Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. Along with hands on programs, a field trip program also included unlimited explore and play time at CMoR. From magnets to machines, dinosaurs to butterflies, there are hands-on science lessons all around CMoR.

CMoR field trips and museum activities are designed for preschoolers through third graders.
The cost is $8.00 per child and one adult chaperone for every five children is admitted free.
