The 2010 Scream Awards winners, honorees and special guests were revealed last night, yet the winners and reunions won’t be shown on TV until Tuesday night. The show taped last night, and will be aired on Spike TV in a few days. However, the surprises and big events have already been spoiled online, along with the winners. Still, the buzz around the Scream Awards has little to do with who won.
The show mainly focuses on horror, sci-fi and fantasy movies and TV shows. To honor them, there are categories like “The Ultimate Scream” “Best Scream-Play” and “Holy **it Scene Of The Year” The likes of Twilight, True Blood, Inception, Lost, District 9 and Kick Ass were among the most nominated films and shows.
From what has leaked, the Scream Awards 2010 winners were mostly made up of the vampire franchises. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse won “The Ultimate Scream” trophy, and was also named Best Fantasy Movie. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Xavier Samuel also got honored individually.
Meanwhile, True Blood won as the best TV show, while Alexander Skarsgard and Anna Paquin received individual awards, and the infamous “head twisting sex” scene was the “Holy **it” moment of the year. Zombieland was recognized as Best Horror Movie, while Mickey Rourke’s Iron Man 2 villain was declared the best bad guy.
Yet the Scream Awards were about much more than the winners. There were some huge reunions and tributes, as Lost was honored one last time and Back To The Future was saluted for its 25th anniversary. Aliens was also saluted, in a night where James Cameron got Best Director for Avatar, and presented Sigourney Weaver with the “Scream Heroine” award. In addition, Bill Murray showed up in his Ghostbusters costume when Zombieland won.
There were also teases for upcoming movies, which most cable awards shows tend to have. Naturally, since this was the Scream Awards, the first teaser for the upcoming Scream 4 was screened – with a lot of screaming featured. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 also got yet another sneak peak.
This will make the Scream Awards a big event for some fans – when they get to see it. The show won’t premiere on Spike TV until Tuesday night, although all of the big events have been given away. But fans of Lost, Back To The Future and Aliens already had the show on their calendars anyway.
The winners and honored guests will be on full, taped display Tuesday night at 9 pm est on Spike TV.
