I cannot imagine my life without an internet search engine. As a young child, this source of technology was not available to me, but since entering my life it has become essential technology. Search engines are an integral part of my life and I could not imagine living without this essential technology.
Search engines play an essential role in expanding my knowledge. I have a curious nature, and often times have offbeat questions that I ponder. Or, a random comment or a news snippet may catch my attention. Internet search engines let me quickly enter key phrases of what I am looking for, and delve into a vast array of knowledge.
Without a search engine, there would be a much less likely possibility of taking the time to go to a library and look up information to satisfy a random pondering. Search engines also offer much greater control as to what depth you are going to investigate a subject. Books can offer both a wide overview and a very narrow view of the topic, but either level still requires additional time and energy to find what you are looking for.
In addition, search engines are essential technology because they have enhanced my experience and role as a consumer. Prior to search engines, product and service opinions were greatly influenced by convenience of location. Following that, the reputation and opinion of the product or service was greatly influenced by the companies marketing. Personal recommendations were available, but limited much to your social circle and chance that a friend had also purchased.
After the essential technology of the search engine, I now take my time to research products that I purchase, ranging from computers to beauty products. There is such wide availability of product options, that I want a solid product from an acclaimed retailer. With the search engine technology available, there is no need to settle for less. I personally believe that retailers have had to take a hard look at the quality of their product and service and make changes to keep consumers.
