Many people start selling Avon to get a little extra cash. However, many of those people struggle with selling Avon. The main reason for this is because of lack of customers. An Avon representative will have a few customers but how does an Avon representative build a decent size customer base? This is the continuing question that many new representatives has on their minds. As a current Avon representative, I have this question raging through my mind. After much research, I decided to try some of the tips and advice I have found. Thus far, some of these tips are working for me but some of them are not. The key is to pick which tips will work for you the best. Below are just a few of the tips that I have found through research. I wish you all the best of luck within your Avon business.
Know your products and company: Before you can really make your Avon business take off then you would need to know about the company and the products. It is also a good idea to know what specials is going on within the company and any promotional deals that is going on as well. This will go a long ways for finding customers, especially when a potential customer asks about certain products.
Get your brochures out there: The easiest way to get customers is to get the brochures out there. This means that you can “toss” the brochures like you would with a newspaper or just handing them out to everyone you see. Brochures can be handed out while waiting in line at a grocery store. Hand out brochures to businesses such as laundry mats, banks, salons, stores or even gas stations. After all, the brochures are your department stores and there is no better way to get your business off of the ground than handing out “flyers” from your store.
Have a fundraiser: A person can easily build up their customer base by hosting a fundraiser. This could be for a well known fundraiser program or you can have one for yourself. For instance, having a fundraiser on your own to benefit the school for playground equipment or new school books can help not only build your customer base but will help the school. Get a hold of someone in charge of fundraising programs and talk to them. When you talk to them mention that you will give them a 20% (whatever percentage that you feel comfortable with) of your total earnings to them for their fundraiser. This is a good way to build your business up.
Meeting new people: The general rule on this is to meet three potential clients per day. This is known as the power of three. If this does not always work then knock on people’s door, have a table full of Avon products at a friends garage sale or set up a booth at a flea market. However, at the garage sale or flea market have a drawing where you can get a potential clients phone number, name and email address; that way you can follow up and possibly get more customers.
Be a walking advertisement: Wear the products from Avon. After all, the best way to promote your business is to be a walking advertisement for Avon. Wear their jewerly, makeup, clothes, etc.
Have your own promotial ideas: If you have regular customers then offer discounts to them for being a repeat client or even referring another customer to you. However, do not have them all the time because this could lose it’s impact when you continue these kind of discounts. Give them like a 10% discount on one of the campaigns that doesn’t have many things on sale for being a repeat customers on orders of $30.00 or more. Also, offer a discount for referring attentional customers to you.
Become a E-Representative: Set up a website and draw customers to it. Set it up for relatives or friends that live out-of-state. Give them discounts for referring customers. Post your link on networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace. Watch the customers use your site and get more customers.
These tips should help you bring in more customers and build your Avon business. As mentioned before, try one or all of these tips that would work for you and your business. Some may work and some may not; it really all depends on you and what you feel comfortable with.
