Over the years I have shopped at the Parklane Shopping Center in Wichita, Kansas. There are several reasons I like to shop at the Parklane Shopping Center over Towne West and Towne East Malls.
Parklane Shopping Center Size
The Parklane Chopping Center is smaller than either of the two larger malls in Wichita. That is one of the reasons I like this area to shop. The stores are laid out in a strip mall fashion on a lower and higher level much like Towne West and Towne East malls.
The Parklane Shopping Center stretches a quarter mile along Oliver. The main corner starts along Lincoln and goes south to Pawnee.
Parklane Shopping Center Changes
When I first started shopping at Parklane Shopping Center, I would frequent Michael’s, JoAnne Fabrics, and a vinyl album store that dealt in used albums. Since then Michael’s has moved and the vinyl store has gone out of business. JoAnne Fabrics has stayed in the shopping center.
I have seen restaurants come and go in Parklane Shopping Center as well. There have been other retailers that have come and gone in the 20 plus years I have shopped at Parklane.
More Than Just a Shopping Center
Although I go to Parklane to shop most of the time, I have made the occasional drive to play bingo as well. There is the “Bingo Ca$ino” on the lower level on the South end of the shopping center. They have been at this location for who knows how long. They are affiliated with “Bingo Palace” in South City that I mentioned in another article.
There are hair and nail salons, banks, health care providers, and other types of professional services you can use all in this one location. At one time, Alco was across the street in its own building. Now the Salvation Army Biddy Basketball is in this building.
Many of these stores and services are on the lower level on the East side of the Parklane Shopping center. There is the
Enterprise VII is included in the Parklane Shopping Center. It is in the section between Glendale and Pawnee just south of the bi-level shopping center.
If you like to shop at a mall environment without all the hassle, Parklane Shopping Center may be what you are looking for. It has a small mall shopping feel with the large mall appeal.
