Facing the Black Friday shopping turmoil can be daunting, but if one has a plan, it may be done with aplomb. Here are a few destinations in the Sacramento area that should not be missed for Black Friday gourmet gifts.
William Glen, 2651 El Paseo Lane, Sacramento, CA 95821-4995, (916) 481-2397 – Located in Town & Country Village
2010 is William Glen’s last year in business, and its passing is a gigantic loss for foodies in our region. This store, however, is not going out with a whimper, but rather with a bang. They are at their height of popularity, and this year, everything in their huge and deep collection of gourmet bounty is on sale for 30% off! This is the chance of a lifetime, so take the credit cards and get yourself a treat too.
Economy Restaurant Fixtures, 415 Richards Boulevard, Sacramento, CA, 95811-0219 (916) 447-6600
This is a very non-pro friendly restaurant supply house. Tools, pots and pans and all kinds of specialty equipment is available for awesome prices. Furthermore, being a big off the beaten path, it will not be as packed as the malls on Black Friday.
Williams-Sonoma, 525 Pavilions Lane, Sacramento, CA 95825-4742, (916) 923-3301 – Located in The Pavilions
Though threatened with insolvency in this rough economy, Williams-Sonoma is still here, and they are doing great. They still offer lots of high-end products for the foodie and the discerning cook. With William Glen’s passing, they may be the only place to score high-end copper in the Sacramento region. A second Williams-Sonoma property is located in the Roseville Galleria mall.
Sur La Table, 1198 Roseville Pkwy # 170, Roseville, CA 95678-1374, (916) 788-0603 – Located in The Fountains
The new entry in the high end cooking equipment chains, Sur La Table has a vast selection of tools and equipment for all levels of cook. Be sure to check out their house-named ceramic line. While they always have high-end products, there is a lot of fantastic low-end merchandise here too that makes great low-cost gifts or stocking stuffers for the chef’s stocking.
