Many times in our single life we go about courting they wrong way. As Men of God we should not allow society to dictate what our future (or present) spouse should be like. In this age of technology we are bombarded with images of gorgeous women such as Serena Williams, Meagan Good, Lauren London, and Beyonce. We are subliminally led to believe they are the crowning achievement of beauty. This is all too dangerous because God cannot reveal our spouse to us while we are hooked on worldly images. We can once look at Genesis 13:8-10 were Lot chose to settle in the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley. That particular area looked good to Lot’s eyes as do many women look good to our eyes. Lot inhabited the wicked land of Sodom and Gomorrah where homosexuality and idolatry ran wild and he could have been destroyed by God. Many times as men we tend to go after the outer appearance to later discover the person we are with is void a personality or has a horrible disposition they either hid during courtship or we refused to notice. We soon face the harsh reality that just because it looks good does not always mean it is good.
As Men of God we must allow God to place us on His potter’s wheel and form us into good husbands. We must also allow God to lift the veil off our spiritual eyes so we can see a woman’s true beauty. In Samuel 16:7 it states, “Man looks on the outer appearance but The Lord looks at the heart.” The man must let God mold him into the husband that He has called him to be, and then only then will God bless him with a Proverbs 31 wife. Once again I will leave you with Proverbs 31:30-31, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise”. GLORY BE TO GOD! AMEN!
