November is cold, rigid, and the start of the holiday season. With Thanksgiving and then Christmas many couples may wonder if this is the best time to have a wedding. Of course it is. If you are in love, you can make any month work. Here are some great wedding themes for the month of November.
Having a wedding in November leaves open that idea of using Thanksgiving as your inspiration. At a time of giving thanks, it would seem wonderful to give thanks for love. The colors could include orange, brown, and yellow. The menu can represent a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey, beets, and pumpkin pie. Using fall colored leaves you can make a wonderful cake. The small accents will turn your wedding into a Thanksgiving theme. Use table centerpieces that say “give thanks”. Offer your guests to write in your wedding book one thing they are thankful for this season.
United State Elections
The 4th of July is not the only time to be patriotic if you live in the United States. The United States holds its elections on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November. Many Americans vote in these elections and if you and your future spouse were actively involved in the campaign, having an Election Day inspired wedding would make sense. Using the traditional Red, White and Blue your wedding will feel very nice. Many of your little touches may have the word “Vote” on them. Perhaps you can even hold your wedding ceremony at a poll site. If you are for a special political party then you can add the animal that represents them on your invites.
Black Friday is known as the Friday following Thanksgiving. During this day, many stores have super sales getting ready for Christmas shoppers. Many people go out very early on this day. If you want to be unique then hold your wedding for Black Friday. You can have your ceremony either late on Thanksgiving, or on Friday evening. You guest would have a chance to get gifts at a much discounted rate, all while during their Christmas shopping also. The best colors for this would be black and white. These colors can look great in weddings.
Celtic New Year
The Celtic New Year celebration is from October 31-November 1. This is when the “lighter half” of the year turns to the “darker half” of the year. It is the end of the fall harvest. Celtic weddings can be beautiful and very symbolic. Lots of greens, blues and earth tones would be associated with a Celtic wedding. Many symbols have many different meanings that would be nicely included in this type of wedding. Many dresses and invitations are designed for Celtic weddings. Handfasting is another alternative to a unity candle in a Celtic wedding. There are many more Celtic wedding traditions to look at, but they are all beautiful and special in their own way.
Veterans Day is a time to remember all of those that have served in the armed forces in the United States. It is observed on November 11. If you or your loved ones have ever lost someone that was serving their country this would be a wonderful way to include them in your wedding. Green and dark green with a splash of the Red, White and Blue would make this wedding beautiful. You may wish to include in your program the names of those that are lost. If your groom is a member of the armed forces then he can choose to wear his uniform for the ceremony.
Transgender day of Remembrance
Celebrated widely in many countries, November 20th marks the Transgender Day of Remembrance. So many lives have been lost because of hate crimes to Transgenders. If you are your loved one are not the “traditional” pair you may decide to get married on this day in November. Many countries have events all over during this day that you may be able to get permission to hold your ceremony. Silver, black and white are wonderful colors for this wedding.
