This is a sneak peek review of the children’s Christmas DVD Thomas & Friends: Merry Winter Wish. This product is due out from Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment on October 12. I was provided a review copy of this product, but was under no obligation to recommend Thomas & Friends: Merry Winter Wish. My observations are my own.
Synopsis of the Children’s Christmas DVD Thomas & Friends: Merry Winter Wish
There are four holiday-themed episodes featuring the engines of the Island of Sodor. The first episode, “Merry Winter Wish”, sees the tank engine get commissioned to make a special delivery of The Star of Knapford to Knapford station. But Thomas goes around with the star, hoping to grant the other engine’s wishes, which leads to an accident. In “Thomas and the Snowman Party”, the tank engine is told by Sir Topham Hatt to pick up a special package at Knapford Station, but he gets sidetracked trying to find a hat for the children’s snowman, which leads to a lot of inconvenience and misunderstanding. In “Henry’s Magic Box”, Henry gets too worried over a special delivery to a farmer’s field and fails to initially tell the other engines about a tea time meeting. The final episode in this children’s Christmas DVD, “Merry Misty Island”, sees the Island of Sodor provide the decorations for a special party on Misty Island. The bonus feature is called “Sir Topham Hatt’s Frosty Friend” Game, where one uses a top hat to catch snowflakes to build a snowman. In continuous play mode (between episodes), viewers will see the human version of Mr. Perkins, a steam engine driver, prepare for the holidays at the station.

I recommend this product because it will help get children into the Christmas spirit, and it does have a very good moral for young viewers especially via the first three episodes: “Do what you’re told, when you’re told.” One can listen to this children’s Christmas DVD in either English, Spanish, or French.
