This is a sneak peek review of the children’s DVD Barney: A-Counting We Will Go. This product comes from Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment and is due to be released September 14, 2010. Barney: A-Counting We Will Go was provided to me for review, but I was under no obligation to recommend it. My observations are my own.
Synopsis of the Children’s DVD Barney: A-Counting We Will Go
Barney and the gang go around the park and caboose counting up from 1-10, singing songs and dancing around in this fast-moving episode that runs about an hour. The main objectives that the purple and green dinosaur and his human friends have to deal with are teaching Baby Bop how to count to ten so she can participate in hide and seek. Baby Bop learns how to count to ten through a pretend store set up in the caboose where the little dinosaur is given coins to purchase things like books and food, and also by associating the numbers 1-10 with aspects of life like days in the week. The gang also is preoccupied with things to do for a counting party.
The bonus feature within the children’s DVD includes a counting game in a garden, where small kids can practice what they learned from Barney and his friends. This product even comes with a 64 page activity book (the height and width is almost as big as the DVD case) where kids can color the Barney characters and learn more about counting through the games included.
More about the Children’s DVD Barney: A-Counting We Will Go
I strongly recommend the DVD because through this product, small kids are encouraged to practice, practice, practice how to count in order to get better at it, doing so by finding things in the home and yard that they can count.
This children’s DVD runs about 54 minutes in length and has English and Spanish language choices.
