When boredom sets in, invite your friends over and enjoy some good films. Read this and you can make your own party.
How to Decorate Before the Party Starts
Make your living room into a theater. Here’s some ideas, buy some cheap movie posters and hang them on your walls. If you’re an artist or if you know someone, draw some cameras, director chairs anything that’s related to films. Also if you’re having this party during the day sometimes sun can make a factor, so I would put up some red curtains over them because the sun can make that annoying glare on the TV. Even at night for decoration red curtains would look nice, it just speaks Movie Theater to me. Black would work too. If you’re a collector of anything that is movie related put it out, that means, old props, photos, and even magazines.
What to watch
I’m going to list some films, which I think would work. Remember this is the major factor of your party. Also remember pick different genres too, just to make the party more interesting.
Tetro (A newer Francis Ford Coppola film, will work for the fans of him)
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Le Femme Nikita
Witches of East wick
Last of the Mohicans
For a Few Dollars More
History of the World Part One
Breathless (Not the remake with Richard Gere)
Friday the 13th
The Crying Game
Bringing up Baby
Legends of the Fall
Jules and Jim
So these movie ideas might help with brainstorming.
What to Eat
Well at your local Wal-Mart, they have theater candy (the box candy), for around $1, buttered popcorn is a must, little sandwiches from your deli, and pizza also works well too. If you’re a baker, cookies, brownies, and anything finger foods are good. The food you want doesn’t have to be elegant; I personally would make it the easiest for yourself.
You have to have drinks too; coffee is a nice touch, punch, soda (a case should work), beer, and cocktails if you want some liquor on hand. I personally would just have soda and coffee, but if it’s more of a preference it’s up to you and your guests.
Activities than just watching movies
Maybe after two films you might want to entertain the guests with other movie ideas. Well I would say charades, where they have to act out scenes from a film. It would be fun, and if you have any movie trivia games take them out.
Have your guests dress up
Like two or three weeks before the party, have your friends pick from a jar with names of famous directors, actors, and actresses. For example, Marilyn Monroe, Jean-Luc Godard, Alfred Hitchcock, Marlon Brando, Bette Davis, really anyone you have in mind. Even make it movie characters than actors. It will make your party very creative and fun.
Last but not least just have fun and make your guests feel comfortable, then you’ll have the best party on the block.
