Sons of Anarchy Season 3 Episode 8 served as a big event. Not only was Sons of Anarchy Season 3 Episode 8 the first 90 minute show of the year, it was the first one where most of the action was not in Charming. After cutting back and forth between Charming and Belfast all year, the action stayed in Belfast much of the way, now that SAMCRO was finally there. But with Tara and Tigs still in Charming, the show still has reason to focus on home occasionally. Yet in Episode 8, Sons of Anarchy officially began SAMCRO’s Belfast vacation, with a typically harsh welcome.
Warning: Spoilers follow
It only took a few minutes for SAMCRO to meet with trouble on the road, as they were set up for pickup by the cops. But Gemma showed why they needed her to come with them, helping them get out of the first of many jams in their stay.
Yet this episode wasn’t too much fun for Gemma, especially when she met Maureen Ashby – and her daughter – in person. So in between trying to reunite her family, she has to keep secret just how extended the family line is. Although Gemma is great at keeping secrets, this one will have to get out somehow before the trip ends.
Of course, back in Charming, Gemma already has a secret grandchild on the way, thanks to Tara. However, with Tara’s relationship with Jax on the rocks, she has every reason to be indecisive about a baby. Her uncertainty took another turn when Lyla came to her with a request.
Although the club is away from Charming, Sons of Anarchy still had time to stay at home for a bit. Since Tigs had to stay behind, he now has to work alone with his arch nemesis and the new prospects. What’s more, Jacob Hale is making his move on renovating the town, and recruits some unsavory help to send a message.
But while all of that will keep the club busy when they get back, they still have a job to do on vacation. The search for Abel still stands to take a while, as Jax is closer and further away toward a reunion than ever – especially with Jimmy and Kellen Ashby pulling their respective strings. With even members of the Sons Belfast charter working against them, a rough Day 1 stands to look like a cakewalk before long.
Now that Sons of Anarchy has featured SAMCRO’s extended welcome to Belfast, the show will return to its hour-long format next week, as Jimmy sets an even deadlier trap for the crew.
