Brownstoner recently pointed out that the anything-but-subtle three story addition plopped down on the red brick building at 509 Myrtle Avenue has been pulled off the market. The units were listed between $2,600 and $3,100 at the end of September. But the two-bedroom units were pulled from the market only two weeks later.
There is a partial stop-work order that may be holding up the finishing touches. However, it is far more likely the rogue spaceship has been discovered by a warring faction of transformers, and must now return to whatever planet it came from.
In other real estate news, the old WaMu spot next to Sister’s Hardware on Fulton has found a tenant. Brownstoner syays the space will become a new Eladia’s Kids, a Park Slope daycare and preschool provider. It will definitely be nice to see something in the empty space.
And the “Scariest Bar in Brooklyn,” the old Navy Yard Cocktail Lounge at Washington and Flushing Avenue is being demolished. The Times blog, The Local, dubbed the working-man’s pub built in 1907 the scariest last year. They also mentioned that other newspapers called it a “whorehouse.” Which must reference their somewhat bawdy wet t-shirt contests. The NY Press said the of the former skuzzy watering hole “I’m coming here when zombies attack.”
Everybody better start thinking of a back-up plan.
