This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran Barracks building. The Barracks is the center for infantry production for Terran players in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty capable of producing several different units, more so in the campaign. Attaching a Tech Lab to a Barracks will unlock further production of units like Marauders, Reapers and eventually Ghosts with a Ghost Academy. Attaching a Fusion Reactor will allow a Barracks to train 2 Terran Marines at once, however no other units may be produced this way in melee, since a Barracks may only have one attached sub-building at once.

StarCraft 2 Terran Barracks Production
Marine: (Melee & Campaign) Basic ranged infantry fighting unit.
Medic: (Campaign only) Healing support infantry, useful for keeping troops alive under heavy fire.
Firebat: (Campaign Only) Area of effect close-ranged armored unit with dual flamethrowers. Great against massed melee attackers like Zerglings or Zealots.
Marauder: (Melee & Campaign) Armored ranged attacker best against other armored units. Great for soaking up damage and can be upgraded to slow targets hit.
Reaper: (Melee & Campaign) Ranged attacker capable of jumping up and down cliffs. Great guerilla attacker with a special weapon that does high damage vs buildings.
Ghost: (Melee & Campaign) Ranged attacker with special ops role. Can cloak, snipe biological targets, call down nukes, and drain shields, energy and disable cloaks with emp shot.
Spectre: (Campaign Only) Variant of the Ghost that trades the emp shot and snipe for 2 abilities that can stun, and deal massive damage over 3 seconds to any unit type.
StarCraft 2 Terran Barracks Upgrades
Building Armor (melee only): Researched by the Engineering Bay (Hotkey B) this upgrade gives +2 armor to all Terran buildings, including the Barracks. Costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 140 seconds.
Fire Suppression System (Campaign Only): Costs $90,000 to benefit all structures by causing all fires to automatically be put out while buildings automatically repair themselves to 50%.
Orbital Strike (Campaign Only): This upgrade requires 25 Protoss research points to unlock and allows built troops to be dropped via drop pod directly on top of the Barrack’s rally point. This does not affect production time like the Warp Gate’s ability does for Protoss.
