This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran Command Center building. The Command Center is the hub of a Terran player’s operations, being the starting building in most games, from which SCVs are produced and both minerals and gas are brought back to after harvesting. The Command Center is also one of several Terran structures capable of lifting off and relocating at a moment’s notice, an excellent feature that gives a level of mobility to a Terran player’s base in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. New in StarCraft 2 is the Command Centers ability to be upgraded into either a Planetary Fortress or Orbital Command Center.
The Command Center is first seen in the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty mission ‘The Outlaws’
Command Centers have no form of self defense, besides being able to suffer a significant amount of damage before failing. Care should be taken to keep Command Centers alive and out of harms way, as the cost to rebuild one is equally hefty. One tactic available to Terran players thanks to the lift off ability, is to build an expansion Command Center in the starting base where it can be protected, then flying it to an expansion area with support. This method can also reach expansion areas cut off from ground units, that Protoss or Zerg forces cannot reach as quickly.
