This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran SCV unit. The SCV otherwise known as the Space Construction Vehicle, is the Terran’s primary engineering and construction unit. Capable of harvesting resources and repairing vehicles and buildings the SCV is the backbone of any Terran player’s economy in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. The SCV lacks significant combat ability, and besides ganging up on a select few attacking units, are easily slaughtered by enemy forces. Terran players must always take caution to protect their SCVs with significant base defenses.
The SCV is first used in the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty mission ‘The Outlaws’
SCVs posses no real offensive capabilities, however they can be used to support pushes of vehicles by repairing advancing units. As defense, again, repairing is their forte, keeping Bunkers, Turrets and various damage buildings in good health. Their repair ability can be autocast, making SCVs automatically repair nearby damaged units.

StarCraft 2 Terran SCV Upgrades
Infantry Armor: Researched by the Engineering Bay (hotkey A) and coming in three tiers, each level of Infantry Armor gives +1 base armor to the SCV. Tier 2 and 3 require the Armory to be built before upgrading. Tier 1 – 100 minerals, 100 gas, 160 seconds. Tier 2 – 175 minerals, 175 gas, 190 seconds. Tier 3 – 250 minerals, 250 gas and 220 seconds.
Advanced Construction: This campaign only upgrade purchasable from the Hyperion’s armory costs $60,000 to allow multiple SCVs to work on the same structure simultaneously. This reduces the build time for each SCV added to the buildings construction.
Dual-Fusion Welders: This campaign only upgrade purchasable from the Hyperion’s armory costs $80,000 to give the SCVs an upgrade to their repair ability, doubling the speed at which they can heal vehicles and buildings. This is great for keeping Bunkers repaired under fire.
