This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran Thor unit. The Thor is a brand new unit in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty serving the role as endgame power unit, capable of taking a heavy beating while dishing it out all the same. In this respect the Thor has begun to replace Battlecruisers as the ultimate end game unit for Terran players. The Terran Thor is built by the Factory, requiring an attached Tech Lab and a built Armory. Capable of firing against air or ground targets, this unit can handle itself 1 on 1 with pretty much anything. The Thor is a smaller version of the Odin that Rory Swann developed schematics for after Tychus Findlay stole the prototype.
The Thor is unlocked in the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty campaign mission ‘Media Blitz’.
The Terran Thor in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty does exceptionally well against ranged units like the Mutalisk, Marine and Stalker that will fall in great numbers to the mech’s attacks. Marauders with their anti-armor slowing weapon are effective foils however, along with Immortals and their high damage deflecting shields, and Zerglings with their ability to quickly swarm into melee range of the Thor with their fast attacks being able to quickly work one over.
