In “Stargate Universe” Season 2 Episode 10 “Resurgence,” the crew is starting to feel the stress of their curious voyage. Eli, having to deal with the deaths of friends, is especially hard hit. One day he was living with his mom, the next on a star ship.
Chloe is also very distressed. The alien pathogen is slowly taking her over and there is nothing anyone can do.
Following a signal, the Destiny discovers a graveyard of star ships, apparently as the result of a long-ago battle. A shuttle is sent to investigate one derelict ship to see if it contains something useful.
Sending people out before doing some remote analysis on the ships turns out to have almost fatal consequences. It seems that some of the ships are not quite dead. Some of them are drones, which reactivate and start to attack the Destiny.
As the shuttle with the explorers is recovered, the Destiny tries to fight off the attack drones in vain. Her FTL drive is taken down. Shields are buckling. Her sublight drive will not take Destiny away in time.
But when all hope seems to be lost, the ancient seed ship with Colonel Telford on board arrives and together they make temporary escape by diving through a local sun.
It seems that Telford has avoided getting killed by the aliens with whom the Destiny has tangled before and has actually made an alliance, of sorts. The aliens are called the Ursini and were apparently so desperate for power that they choose to try to take and not ask on those occasions they attacked the Destiny in previous episodes of “Stargate Universe.”
But now they have a common enemy, as the drones are controlled by a command ship. Take out the command ship, and the drones will be defeated.
Dr. Rush toys with the idea of having the Ursini help them repair the Destiny and then abscond, thus double crossing them. Young and the rest think this is not a good idea, dishonorable in fact.
However, as the Destiny goes toe-to-toe with the command ship, fighting through swarms of drones, it is the Ursini who abscond, leaving the Destiny to be taken apart by the enemy. Looks like the dishonorable and deceitful Dr. Rush was right after all. Shields are buckling and there are hull breaches.
In the meantime, apparently taken over by the pathogen, Chloe breaks out of confinement, takes out her guard, and heads for a particular console and starts pushing buttons. Eli pursues her, but Chloe or whatever she has become turns to him and says, ever so quietly, “It’s too late.”
And that is it for “Stargate Universe” until next year, mores the pity.
