Kesha has often been referred to as a baby Lady Gaga. Some love her style and some hate her style. The singer/songwriter was born on March 1, 1987. Kesha was her birth name, not just a name she chose for showbiz. However she did add the infamous dollar sign; changing her name from Kesha to Ke$ha.
Kesha has been involved in the music industry since 2005 and had her big break in 2009. In 2009, Kesha appeared in Flo Rida’s hit single “Right Round”.
But what about the real Kesha; the Kesha behind the music. She was born in San Fernando Valley. Her mother was a single parent. Kesha’s mother Pebe was also a singer/songwriter and moved the family to Nashville, Tennessee in 1991 due to a publishing deal. As a child Kesha attended a musical school. Music was always in her life.
When Kesha was 17 she quit high school to pursue a career in music. At the time she was enrolled in an International Baccalaureate program and had plans of going to Columbia University to study psychology. However, music was Kesha’s true passion so she moved back to L.A.
In L.A she met Dr. Luke who helped fire up her career. Shortly after appearing in Flo Rida’s “Right Round” Kesha signed with RCA through Dr. Luke. It was no easy dream to reach. She struggled financially, working as a waitress to make ends meet before things started rolling. She even snuck into Prince’s home to try to drop off a demo. Obviously as soon as she was found in the home she was kicked out.
Many people view her as a party girl who can’t be very intelligent. But like I mentioned before she was enrolled in a Baccalaureate program. She also had a near perfect score on her SAT’s. She was very studious in high school.
Whether you like her is completely up to you. But a lot of people don’t realize that her head isn’t filled with hot air. She has a carefree and laid back attitude. She admits that she isn’t a party girl in the sense that she goes clubbing and gets drunk all the time. She feels that she is a “walking good time”. There’s nothing wrong with her making the most of her life. She wants to have fun and look at life as a party. Her lyrics may not always have much substance to them, but they are feel good songs. A lot of her songs tell stories also.
Anyone who can achieve their dreams is a winner in my book. I personally think that it’s really sad that people talk badly about her. She is young and she is doing what she wants to do. The fact that she actually has a fair degree of intellegence is awesome. People should be more open to realizing that. If you don’t like her music that’s fine, but there’s no need in wasting your breath judging her as a human being. She’s just tring to have fun, we could all use a little but more fun in our lives!
