Style Network’s latest show, “Jerseylicious,” follows the Gatsby Salon in Greenbrook, New Jersey as it works with a newly renovated show and new staff members.
But with new staff comes new drama as there is a deep-seeded hate that flows between two co-workers that management was unaware of during the hiring process.
Let’s take a look at the featured staff of the Gatsby Salon and see where the really drama, and lack of management/leadership is.
1. Gayle, Owner
Gayle’s husband was the original owner of the Gatsby. Sadly, he died 11 years ago and Gayle and her daughter Christy have been owning/managing the salon ever since. To my knowledge, Gayle has not remarried and has put all of her energy into making the Gatsby a success.
Recently, Gayle took out $2 million dollars in loans and such in order to renovate the salon. Let me say that from what I see on TV, the salon looks great, but that is a lot of money for renovations. I’m no expert on what this kind of thing should cost, but it was very clear throughout the season that Gayle and Christy had to continually come up with ideas to amp up business in the salon to pay the bills. A couple of those projects were shooting a TV commercial, landing the cover of a regional health and beauty magazine, and hosting a Locks of Love charity event.
Gayle has an interesting managment/leadership style and, although I may not agree with it, it’s not my salon so I won’t sit here and pick her apart.
2. Christy, Manager and Gayle’s daughter
Christy is seen more often in the salon because she runs the front desk and controls the work flow in terms of appointments. I don’t know how old Christy is, but it is clear that the salon is what she knows and wants very much for it to succeed. Also, it was Christy’s idea to bring in younger stylists and make up artists. Christy is married and we occasionally see her husband on the show.
3. Anthony, Hairstylist
Anthony is actually the owner of Anthony Robert Salon. He was hired because he is a great and knowledgeable stylist. Also, his salon is undergoing renovations so he was able to bring his existing clients over to the Gatsby (a great boost for business).
Anthony is married with a little cute son and often finds himself helping Gigi with her boyfriend issues and being the referee between Tracy and Olivia.
4. Gigi, Hairstylist
Gigi is such a sweetheart. She has been dating her boyfriend/fiance Frankie for the past two years and sometimes Gigi’s role in the show comes down to her relationship issues with Frankie. God bless them that they love each other, but they have real relationship problems that happen to be aired on a reality TV show.
5. Tracy, Hairstylist
If there were teams on this show there would be Team Tracy and Team Olivia. Although Tracy was hired to be a hairstylist, she has vowed to make it her mission to make Olivia’s life difficult and get her to quit. There has been no shortage of drama in this area even down to the fact that Tracy is dating Olivia’s ex-boyfriend. Oh the drama.
Tracy also has her own plans to expand beyond the Gatsby to be a superstar stylist in the New York and New Jersey area. But first she needs the Gatsby to be her stepping stone.
6. Alexa, Make Up Artist aka “The Glam Fairy”
Alexa owns her own business called “The Glam Fairy.” It is a business that provides mobile make up and hair service for brides and photo shoots. Interestingly enough, she is the only one who did not have to apply for a job at the Gatsby. Gayle and Christy actually came to her to come up with a business partnership.
Alexa has said that she is very well connected and travelled and is the best in the New York/New Jersey area at what she does. However, that can sometimes get in her way when things don’t go her way. It doesn’t change the fact that she does a fabulous job as a make up artist and when she produces her own photo shoots.

7. Olivia, Make Up Artist
Olivia is a brand new make up artist although she does have a cosmetology license. Although she started off the season with a few timeliness issues and when she showed up for her first day of work with her own make up kit.
Olivia has Alexa as her supervisor and has learned a lot from Alexa over the season. Olivia was even able to pull off a Glammy Girl fashion show and put together a business plan (neither of which she’s done before) to show Alexa that the Gatsby could benefit from younger clients who need help for events such as prom and make up lessons.
Although she tries to avoid Tracy’s drama, sometimes it’s just not possible. Let’s hope that these two can get a long a little better in season 2. Especially since Olivia was the one responsible for getting Tracy rehired when she was fired at the Locks of Love charity event.
I hear that there are going to be a few cast changes and I look forward to the new season. I hope the drama doesn’t bring down the salon and the hard work that everyone has put in so far.
The new season of “Jerseylicious” airs on the Style Network Sunday nights at 8 pm EST (starting September 5th) and you can can season 1 on E! Friday nights at 9 pm EST.
