Looking for a great Korean restaurant in Niceville? Well, look no further than Sun’s Korean Cafe. It’s on John Simms Parkway, near the Donut shop. What’s so great about Sun’s? Well, I’ll tell you about their prices and a couple of my favorite dishes: Bulgogi and Bi Bim Bop. When you’re done reading this, you’ll want to head out to Sun’s for a nice meal, Korean style.
Sun’s is not at all unreasonable in price. For lunch, you can get a meal with a drink for five or six dollars, depending upon what you get (I think they had a $4.99 special at some point, maybe it’s still going). For dinner, you get the usual prices for the area, ten dollars to fourteen dollars for a great dinner. Now, onto the most popular dish: Bulgogi.
Bulgogi comes in beef, pork and chicken, and is a filling dish of rice, meat, and a variety of sides that usually includes bean sprouts and kimchee, plus other sides that seem to be fairly random. When a korean person asks you if you want mild, medium or hot, if you’ve never eat korean food before, get medium at first. Korean medium is very spicy for most american taste buds. This is a very popular dish, and is incredibly tasty. But if you’ve had it before, let me recommend another for you to try that’s not quite as popular among the american customers: Bi bim bop.
Bi bim bop
First off, bi bim bop comes in hot and cold varieties. I’ve only tried the hot one (sizzles when it comes out), and I’ve been told that the cold one is not as good. So try the hot. Bi bim bop is great. It is a big bowl with rice in the bottom, meat, bean sprouts, cucumbers, and several other sides on top of the rice, with an egg (this usually cooks while it’s being brought out). The hot dish at Sun’s is a variety that comes with some kind of soup (I just poured it over the other bowl and soaked it into the rice). This is a really great dish, and is very fragrant. If you order this, you’ll certainly get full (I usually take about half home with me).
Sun’s is closed on weekends, and you should bring cash. They do not accept credit cards. As for parking, if you go around lunch, the front parking spaces are probably going to be full. Go around the right side, go around the back, and there’s some space to park on the other side of the building.
