The Survivor Nicaragua episode 1 recap comes from the September 15 episode. This 2010 Survivor Nicaragua episode 1 recap covered the season premiere, and revealed the 20 new cast-aways that will be competing for the $1 million prize. The Survivor Nicaragua season premiere of episode 1 began the 21st season of Survivor that is going to air on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m., a move from the Thursday night time slot that the show had enjoyed for years.
Survivor Nicaragua Episode 1 Recap
The September 15 episode of Survivor began with the familiar introduction of the host country, this time showing how rugged the outback of Nicaragua can be. It looks to be a beautiful country from the images that CBS provided us already. They didn’t do much messing around, as they went right into the episode after the opening credits instead of going to commercial break.
The first introduction was Kelly B, who had a right leg amputation earlier in life that she was going to keep under wraps. They also mentioned how Jimmy Johnson was in the coach, and how he coached the University of Miami and Dallas Cowboys earlier in his life. The first major revelation was that there was a “Medallion of Power” hidden, and all 20 cast-aways were sent in search of it. There was no further explanation of what it would do, but simply that it would help the tribe that got it. Naonka was the one who found it, and then came the revelation of who the tribes would be.
The 2010 Survivor Nicaragua cast will have one tribe where everyone is at least 40-years-old, and the second tribe will be made up mostly of cast-aways in their 20’s. It will present an immediate shock to the 20 contestants this season, and it definitely presents an intriguing new way for Survivor to try and bring some freshness to how the show plays out. There were some very surprised people when host Jeff Probst made the announcement, but there were also some that were quite intrigued. Naonka became a member of the younger tribe with her Medallion of Power.
The younger tribe was faced with the choice to either keep the medallion or to receive fishing gear, but it went to commercial before we learned what their choice might be. When the decision was made, the young tribe indeed decided to trade the “power” in order to gain the fishing gear.
For the rest of the season, the younger tribe will be known as La Flor, and the older tribe will be known as Espada. As the tribes started to adjust to camp life, it was interesting to see the Espada tribe try to figure out if this really was Jimmy Johnson and why he was on the show. It also seemed like some of the Espada tribe was pretty dysfunctional early on. They did get the first fire burning very quickly though, using a pair of reading glasses that Jane was able to put into play.
Survivor Nicaragua Hidden Immunity Idol Clue
Alina and Kelly B. of La Flor found a hidden immunity idol clue, but decided not to share it with anyone else. It made an unofficial alliance between the two of them, but Alina told the cameras she didn’t want to take Kelly B. to the finals.
First Survivor Nicaragua Immunity Challenge
The introduction of the challenge came with instructions on how to use the Medallion of Power. The tribe that has the medallion uses the power to get an advantage in that particular challenge, but if they use it, it them goes over to the other tribe. The older tribe decided not to use it in the first challenge though, intending to send a message instead.
The object of the first Survivor Nicaragua immunity challenge was for one person to pour water down a series of gutters that other tribe members were holding on staggered levels all the way to their final bucket. Filling that large bucket first lowered puzzle pieces that the tribe then had to put together. First one done with the puzzle would win the challenge.
The younger tribe got their puzzle pieces first, but the other tribe almost caught up as they started putting the puzzles together. In the end it was the younger tribe that got the puzzle put together first, meaning they won immunity. The older tribe was then forced to face the knowledge they would be sending someone home at the first tribal council.
Survivor Nicaragua Episode 1 Tribal Council
The older tribe went into tribal council, and they were not getting along with each other at all. Wendy began talking about why she needed to stay in the game, but she would not stop talking. Anyone who might have not made up their mind before entering the tribal council decided based on what she had to say.
Eve received a vote, but it was Wendy that was the first person voted out of Survivor Nicaragua.
