This episode had tribe switch ups, a crying NaOnka and a roast chicken dinner. Let’s get to it.
After tribal council where Espada voted out Jimmy T, there are definite divisions of the tribe. Jane and Holly thought Dan was being voted out so now realize that they will be the next to be targeted. Marty thinks he’s on top of the world and in control of the tribe. The eviler Marty gets the more crazy his hair gets too and it’s not a good look.
Meanwhile mean girl of the La Flor tribe NaOnka thinks she’s in control of her tribe because she has the idol, she fixed her hair and cleaned her shoes!
Both tribes gather for the first reward challenge but Jeff Probst surprises everyone by telling them to “drop your buffs.” Probst goes around with sacks that everyone has to pick a pebble from, the people with the colored pebble get to pick new tribe members. This went to Brenda for La Flor and Holly for Espada. Brenda picks Marty, Jill and Jane. They join Sash, Jud/Fabio, Kelly B and Purple Kelly. Holly picks Alina, NaOnka, Chase and Benry. They join Tyrone, Yve and Dan. On their new mats we’re also treated to enthusiastic dancing from Jane. For this reward challenge both tribes have to throw balls up a giant pyramid Plinko and catch the balls coming down. If one tribe doesn’t catch a ball the other tribe will get a point. The first tribe with three points wins the reward of three hens. It was close but Espada wins the challenge and takes their hens in the coop back to camp.
At the new Espada camp, the old La Flor members are given a rundown of how things work by Tyrone. They are a bit taken back because La Flor was much more laid back. Holly tells Alina and Chase that she picked them because they remind her of her kids. When Holly goes to gather wood with NaOnka and Alina she tells them that she’ll vote with them because she was on the outs with the other tribe members. NaOnka is definitely more calm this episode but she does pull a crazy out of her hat when she describes Tyrone as thinking he’s a “G meaning gangsta.” It’s also raining like heck on the Espada beach and the young tribe members realize how superior the La Flor shelter was. The Espada shelter is built right on the beach and has a high roof so the wind and rain both get in. NaOnka is having a hard time and she starts crying to Alina and Chase saying she wants to quit. Alina says Na acts like she’s still in high school: one minute she’s crazy the next she’s crying. They both try to convince NaNa not to quit and Chase consoles her with his hot ab-ilicious bod, but just hugging her though. He also tells her a story about seeing a rainbow in the back of his truck after his father passed away but when he looked back there was no rainbow so he thought it was dad giving him a message. So now they’re both crying together along with the other millions of viewers. Waaa we want to be consoled by Chase too…
Over at La Flor things are definitely more chill. Jud/Fabio explains that it’s because they’re young so they don’t know how to do things. Marty is trying to pretend to be laid back too but he’s not a good actor. He decides to share with La Flor that he has the Hidden Immunity Idol and then hangs it up on a tree. Brenda thinks he’s totally arrogant and can’t believe he told everyone about the idol.
The next day the tribes gather for the immunity challenge. For this challenge three tribe members will be strapped to a wheel that other tribe members will rotate. The strapped on members will be dunked in water, take a mouthful and spit it out into a tube. They have to fill the tube so it falls over releasing a ball. Then two other tribe members have to throw the ball to break five tiles. The first tribe to break all five tiles wins immunity. La Flor is strong but are rotating the wheel too fast so not all the water is getting into the tube. Espada is slower and fills their tube first. Tyrone quickly smashes one tile. Then La Flor fills their tube and releases the ball. Both tribes are even but La Flor smashes the last tile first and wins immunity again. More crazy dancing from Jane, who knew she could bust out those moves.
Back at Espada. NaOnka still wants to quit and she thinks that she’ll get voted out. Meanwhile the tribe is hungry and want to eat one of the hens. Tyrone is the only one opposed because he thinks it will limit the egg production. So he stays out of the process until it’s time to eat, then he digs in and grabs more than his fair share. Alina gets annoyed at this because she’s still hungry. The younger tribe mates think about voting out Tyrone at tribal council.
At tribal council they talk about leadership. Tyrone tries to defend himself telling the young tribe mates that he wasn’t bossing them around when they first came to camp he was just explaining how things worked there… something lost in generational translation. NaOnka describes how her divorce was the most painful thing in her life and second is being on Survivor. Yve says that Na’s breakdown essentially sealed her fate. They vote and with five votes for Tyrone and two for NaOnka, Tyrone is the fifth person voted out.
