Sweet Harmony is my favorite place to go for lunch. So much so that this is the restaurant I chose for my 60th birthday party. I decided I wanted it to be a chick lunch and the invitees were my best friends, my daughter, daughter-in-laws and granddaughters. When you first enter Sweet Harmony you are going to think that this is a tea room, it does have that look. To classify it as one however would just be wrong. While you can certainly get a great cup of tea or glass of iced tea here, it is so much more than that.
The seating is at wooden tables and they can seat you at a double, a triple, a quad or even as I did on my birthday, seat more than 12 at a large table that dominates the center of the main dining room. None of the tables and chairs are the same, you may be seated in a winged back upholstered chair, a wicker chair or a Windsor chair, it is eclectic. You will notice that there are collectibles and small antiques scattered around the rooms, these are for sale so if you see something you like, go and look it.
The menu offers a lot of options. There is always a daily sheet with what they have that is special on that given day. The soup of the day will be there as well as a quiche or two. There are also sandwiches, salads and some entrees. If they offer their Mac and cheese, it is decadent and well worth the splurge.
If you see a sandwich you like but would prefer as a salad, for an additional $1 they will do any of them. I often have the ham and brie sandwich which is normally on a French roll, served as a salad. I love the Vidalia onion dressing but they have plenty of other choices.
They have all the standard favorites, tuna melts, BLT’s, turkey club and my husband’s favorite the prime rib wrap. He thinks this is a girly restaurant but the prime rib sandwich keeps him coming back whenever I say I am in the mood. He has them put it on foccacia bread to make it a little more filling and he really does love it. They usually have a pork loin sandwich with chutney and a delicious chicken salad.
I have never had anything here I didn’t love. They have plenty of vegetarian choices as well. They have delicious drinks too, the limonade is wonderful and can be ordered carbonated or not.
Try to save room for dessert because as good as the meals are, the desserts are even better. This is a bakery as well as a café and their cakes are to die for. The chocolate peanut butter truffle is my favorite, it is the best cake I have ever had anywhere and that is really saying something. It is what I chose for my birthday cake. If you want to have a dessert to share, they offer a chocolate fondue with fruit, French bread and croissant.
They have added an outdoor dining area when the weather is warm. It can get quite crowded indoors because it is quite small. If you plan to come with a larger party you really need to have a reservation. Parking is in the Municipal Parking Lot and you need quarters to feed the machine. Occasionally they have special evening events with music.
This is not the place to come if you are in a hurry. Sit back, relax and enjoy your companion and the wonderful food. It is a dining experience.
