While some in my breed, like dear old dad, would consider any criticism of the sacrosanct burg they call the Low Country my just being bitter and jaded, I do need to give props where props are due. I’ve been through the Town Center in Mt. Pleasant and, while it is an outdoor shopping plaza rather than a mall, there is quite readily something for everyone. At the same end, the Northwoods Mall in North Charleston is a whole lot of nothing all that special. So needless to say I was suspicious when the wife and I headed up to Tanger Outlets in North Charleston. Tanger Outlets in North Charleston has a good mixture of stuff I know I need and stuff I think I want. There is no Apple store here (yet) but the Tanger Outlets location in North Charleston takes more from its down-county cousin in Mt. Pleasant (Town Center) than from its North Charleston neighbor Northwoods.
Shoes & Accessories: My wife’s a lady who likes to shop and there was plenty to keep her busy when we were perusing the isles at Tanger Outlets in North Charleston. Accessory giants Claire’s, Fossil, GUESS, Liz Claiborne, and Totes/Sunglass World stood side by side with such feet favorites as Kenneth Cole, Nike Factory Store, Reebok, Sketchers, Nine West, and Easy Spirit. Also for the feet were specialty shops like Converse, Clarks Bostonian, Hush Puppies, and this fun place called the Flip Flop Stop. Truly something for everyone.
Apparel: If your feet are cared for but it’s new threads you need, check out the Tanger Outlets rooster of fine clothiers for men, women, or both. Ann Taylor, Izod, Levi’s Outlet, Lucky Jeans, Perry Ellis, Timberland, Old Navy, Gap Outlet, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Banana Republic, and Eddie Bauer Outlet were just some of the names we saw for adults. If you really want to embarrass your partner, stop in to the Calvin Klein Underwear shop and begin talking ‘cup size’ with the salesperson. It’s really quite funny.
Kids Apparel: Not wanting to forget the little guys, there are many places where kids can get their fashion on. try The Children’s Place, Gymboree Outlet, Oshkosh B’gosh, or Old Navy if you’re on a budget. If your money knows no bounds? Consider stepping out your little tyke in the Tommy Hilfiger Company Store.
Miscellaneous: Some of the other shops the wife and I partook in at Tanger Outlets in North Charleston South Carolina were the Fragrance Outlet, Le Gourmet Chef, the Cosmetics Company, Bath & Body Works, and the $5 Christian Book Sale. Be careful though guys; you could end up walking into a place like Zales The Diamond Store Outlet just thinking that you’re having fun and you could end up walking out with a much bigger bill than you’d bargained for.
Conclusion: My biggest gripe with the Tanger Outlets in North Charleston South Carolina is that the food choices are anemic. If you’re going to have an outlet shopping mall and you want folks to spend a lot of time there, you need to feed and hydrate them; especially in your open air, hotter than heck walkways in the mid-day mid-summer sun.
