So it seems Taylor Swift was dating John Mayer for a while, perhaps even involved in a relationship with him, notes Perez Hilton. In her new album, “Speak Now,” Taylor Swift reprimands John Mayer in the lyrics of the song “Dear John.” She asks him:
“Don’t you think I was too young
To be messed with…”
“It was wrong
Don’t you think nineteen’s too young
To be played by your dark twisted games
When I loved you so….”
“And I’ll look back in regret I ignored what they said
Run as fast as you can.”
Life Lessons for Taylor Swift
Ah life lessons are hard to handle. Sounds like Taylor loved John and he broke her heart. It sounds like John Mayer gave Taylor a lesson about the wild boys in life. Will Mayer be amused by “Dear John” or will he be churlish when discussing it in interviews?
I tend to agree with Taylor that Mayer’s breaking her heart when she was only 19 was a bit much. After all he’s had quite the posse of famous women in his life already. To take on a naïve girl is a bit much, or was he looking for true love?
John Mayer: Not Too Discreet?
Mayer is infamous now for talking about his prior sex life with Jessica Simpson in Playboy. Mayer discussed how Jessica Simpson was “sexual napalm,” notes People. Simpson was noticeably upset on talk shows when she talked about his indiscretion. It seems Mayer has left a wake of destruction after failed romances.
So time will tell if John Mayer will write a tell all song about Taylor. Or will he be the older, wiser, gentleman and let her have her rant without retaliating? And it will be interesting to see if Taylor continues to write about her romances. Does she want a trail of songs about her losses in love to be with her forever?
John Mayer: “Dark Twisted Games?”
And just how “dark” is John Mayer? What kind of “dark twisted games” did he pull on Taylor? Or is she just confessing that perhaps she thought he loved her too and then it became all too clear that love wasn’t permanent?
Loving a famous musician is never the safest of bets. After all, they have groupies following them around. Only time will tell when John is finally ready to settle down into a marriage. Alas for Taylor it wasn’t soon enough for her.

And of course having a relationship crash and burn after people in your life told you to “run away” from someone dangerous is always a crushing blow. When young it is hard to accept that people older and wiser can spot the trouble spots of life a lot sooner than you can. Taylor didn’t see it, but John practically has the word “player” tattooed on his forehead. It is there in invisible ink, you just need to be jaded about love to see it.
Listen to your mother’s advice young lasses. They know more than you possibly could about life and the games people play as they have decades more experience than any teen girl or twenty-something will have for a long while.
