It is half way through the second season of the sensation called Teen Mom, a reality show on the MTV network about four teenage mothers who had babies as teenagers. This second season tells the stories about the same four mothers who are now older, a bit wiser, but nonetheless, everything is harder for the moms. Two of the moms have to contend with their mothers, one has to deal with her ex, and one has to deal with the father of her baby. They have a load of new problems but they also have the joy of their children, either by their side or elsewhere. This season tells the story about these women in a whole new perspective.
Macy has a son named Bentley and her ex, Ryan, is still not helping her with much of anything. She is basically working full time while going to school, wanting to get her Journalism degree. She does not have much time with her son, but when she does, she spends all her time with him. Ryan still has no job (at least he doesn’t as of this article) and is not doing much at all. Macy was doing her best and finally had to ask Ryan for child support. He was not very forth coming about it so she had to take him to court in order to get him to do what she considered his duty. Macy’s life was almost complete, except for one thing. She would like to find someone to love and also that someone had to know that Bentley came with the package. So this season she saw someone come into her life from her past. She had known him since she was a child and they reconnected. Kyle treated her so much better than Ryan ever did and has come to love Bentley. This season we saw Macy make the hardest decision she had ever had to make. She was going to move to be closer to Kyle, to see if they would actually be able to make it as a real couple. There was one thing though. Ryan was thinking about filing for more time with Bentley. Of course, this was not his idea. His parents and current girlfriend had put it in his head that he needed more time. She would be leaving behind her family, friends, and support system in order to be closer to Kyle. Of course, Bentley likes Kyle and vice versa, so that helped Macy with her decision. She gave up everything for her child and now wants to give him more. We will see what happens in the coming weeks on the show and whether or not it is picked up for another season.
Caitlyn has a lot to contend with this season also. She has to contend with the grief of giving up her baby for adoption; Tyler’s grief, her mother’s nasty attitude and her stepfather going into rehab. Caitlyn got caught in the drama when Tyler become nasty to her and wanted her to go home. So Caitlyn went home and had to contend with her mother and her attitude. Then Caitlyn was caught lying about an ex-boyfriend, which made Tyler rethink their relationship and trust. Once they got past those problems, her stepfather went into rehab and her mother turned on her. Her mother still has not gotten past the fact that Caitlyn gave Carly for adoption and has taken to taking it out on her. So, basically Caitlyn has just let it all go to the wayside with her mother, even though it hurts. Recently, Caitlyn and Tyler were able to get to talk to their little girl on her one year birthday, through her adoptive parents. That made them happy and also it gave them the knowledge that what they did was the best thing for Carly. Caitlyn and Tyler were also recently featured on People Magazine, in which they actually were able to see Carly and her family. It was a very good and emotional article about them and the other moms from Teen Mom.
Amber has had a tough season this season with her problems with Gary and all. Gary lost his job, so to keep things going, Amber has found a job she likes and is also trying to get her GED. She has her own home, which makes her proud and is able to make a go of it by herself. For some reason, Amber and Gary keep breaking up but them getting back together. They have these huge fights, which is usually in front of their little girl, Leah. Amber has this way of reacting really quick and not thinking of the consequences. Gary and Amber went on a small vacation to Florida this past season and we saw Gary ask Amber to marry him again. Amber was not to thrilled but nonetheless accepted his proposal. They have had their up and downs but the latest episode, as of this writing, shows Amber going over the top. Gary finally got a job and has to go in early. In the process, he woke up Leah, which made Leah cranky all day and made Amber furious. Many people were probably taken a back by the way Amber reacted to the situation. She basically made people think she was not a good mother by the way she reacted. She also threw Gary out of the house again which upset things again. A friend of Amber’s came over and basically she lectured Amber on what was what. I hope Amber takes her advice and makes things better for all. In the People Magazine article, Amber did let it be known that she and Gary are not together anymore, but are trying their best to make things better for Leah. For Leah’s sake, I hope they do.
Farrah is one of the hardest people to like and I have been trying to. She had a huge chip on her shoulder and an attitude to match. She thinks she knows it all and so forth. She has a rocky relationship with her mother and she recently let it be known that the father of her baby is deceased. She is currently in therapy trying to get through issues. She has also asked her mother to join her for the therapy sessions. As I mentioned, Farrah and her mother have a rocky relationship. It got more so when the media made the announcement that her mother had assaulted her. It took some time, but Farrah and her mother are working towards a better relationship. It is a work in process. She loves her daughter and does what she can to make a good life for her. She was trying to get a better car for them but was scammed out of a lot of money on one episode. Farrah learned from that lesson and has did what she can to keep going. Recently she has been thinking of moving from the apartment that she has been living in and going to live in her parent’s rental house across the street. She has been weighing the pros and cons of doing this. We will see in the coming weeks what she decides.
Whatever decisions these young women make, I know they will do whatever it takes to make things better for their children. Teen Mom has shown, despite criticism, that becoming a teen mom is hard and not many can manage it like these girls. They have been through the wringer and more, but they are strong. I am hoping that there will be a third season so we can find out how these girls are faring and more.
