What doesn’t Amazon.com do? They sell books, musical CD’s, clothes, jewelry and so much more. They have been at the top of the online market for years. Is there anything else they can do to add more revenue to their pot? Aren’t they tapped out on ideas? Absolutely not.
Amazon.com is now considering “starting a broadband subscription.” Personally, I think it is a genius idea. Amazon is already so incredibly popular and well respected in this country and countries abroad, why not add such an also popular concept. It’s an online company people trust, with great customer service, and in this economy, people still shop on it’s website frequently, so why not add a service that most people can use in their homes?
The idea is still an infant, however, but Amazon has taken some baby steps and approached the Big Ten of television like Viacom, Time Warner and the like. Netflix has done booming business, and Amazon would like to top it, which I think is highly possible.
Because Amazon already sells TV and Movie CD’s and DVD’s, and has the rights to do it, their hope would be that it would be an easy transition to begin an online service like Netflix.
I shop at Amazon.com, not frequently, but enough (maybe 6 times a year or so) to know that this company that started out of Jeff Bezos’ garage can pretty much do anything it wants to, that is when it puts its brilliant mind behind it!
