A Thai 9 dining experience is delightful. The beautiful restaurant is located on the west side of the Historic Oregon District in Dayton, OH. It is one of the few restaurants in the Historic Oregon District to have ample parking for their guests.
This lovely ivy covered brick building is a popular spot. We entered through a charming door leading over a small bridge to the patio area. It was early and we were seated right away. The building inside has a tall ceiling with rafters and loft dining areas. The tropical plants and Thai decor were beautiful and not overwhelming.
The server was with us instantly. He did not rush the group, but took orders quickly. It was the young man that filled drinks that impressed. He was unobtrusive but our drinks were never allowed to be empty. As the room filled with diners, he didn’t slack.
The server asked each of us what level we wanted for spicy with our meals. We could choose up to level 9. This is a great idea. You can order anything on the menu that way. One in our party chose a middle of the road level 5 and received raised eyebrows from another in our party who had been there before. He indicated level 5 might be unwise if you are not used to Thai cuisine. She hastily downgraded to level 2 and was grateful for the advice when her meal arrived. Level 2 was exactly right.
The unique menu is set up in such a way that you create your own meal. Items are priced according to the meat, fowl or fish you choose. Also the spice level. It was an extensive menu.
We ordered two appetizer plates of Crab Rangoon. Each plate of six was $5.95. It was deep fried just a bit too long, so it was a bit too brown and crispy but it still had a very good taste. The filling was excellent. It had almost a cheesecake texture and was quite flavorful with lots of crab and spice. The sauce served with it was sweet and delicious.
For dinner I ordered Chicken Pad Thai. I also chose level 2 and it was just spicy enough. The plate was piled high and it was delicious. It is stir fried noodles, bean sprouts, ground peanuts, egg and green onions. I chose it for the inclusion of peanuts and there were enough ground peanuts throughout to satisfy even me. It really makes the meal. It was served steaming hot. My meal was $10.95. Prices ranged from $10.95 to $19.95.
They serve a wide variety of Sushi. On a previous visit I ordered the sushi. It is fabulous. The sushi is delicate, well wrapped and very fresh. There is a large variety. It is served beautifully on thick wood footed plates. I really enjoyed the artistic arrangements.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
