Thanksgiving is a time for gathering with friends and family to celebrate the bountiful harvest produced by the farmers within the United States. Turkey is the most common meat served along with corn, potatoes and pumpkin pie. Spice up the menu with a special beverage made especially for the holiday.
Pumpkin Latte – 4 (8 oz.) servings
2 cups very strong coffee
1 1/3 cups evaporated milk
½ cup 100% pure pumpkin
4 tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to boil over a medium-low heat stirring occasionally. Carefully pour the contents into a blender. Cover the container and hold the top with a towel or a pot holder. Blend for one minute. Pour into mugs and serve.
Hot Cider Coffee – 8 servings
¼ cup coffee grounds
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 cup apple cider
6 cups cold water
Place ¼ cup coffee grounds into coffee filter. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon over the coffee grounds. Place the filter into the coffee pot. Add 6 cups water to the water holding chamber. Add 2 cups apple cider and ½ cup packed brown sugar to the coffee carafe. Stir the apple cider and brown sugar together. Place the coffee carafe on the coffee maker. Turn on the coffee maker and complete the batch of coffee. Stir the apple cider mixture and coffee prior to pouring into coffee mugs.
Cranberry Punch – Makes 15 (6 oz.) servings
64 oz. Bottle of Cranberry Juice Cocktail
1 cup concentrated orange juice pulp
4 cups lemon-lime soda
Optional: Garnish with orange and/or lime slices
Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl. Stir until mixed. Add ice cubes or an ice ring made from cranberry juice.
